Senior Gymnastics Coach - Short term coverage

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Bermuda Gymnastics Association (BGA) is a well-established organization dedicated to developing gymnasts of all ages and levels, from recreational to competitive. We are seeking an experienced, qualified Senior Gymnastics Coach to join our team in beautiful Bermuda. This is an excellent opportunity to develop gymnastics for a small island that has lots of talent. The successful candidate should be able to locate to the island for 3-4 months.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

This full-time, permanent role focuses on the development of our girls’ competitive team, who compete internationally throughout the season. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and safe gymnastics instruction, support recreational programs as needed, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for athletes of all ages and abilities. Spotting for safety and skill development is required, especially for upper-level skills. The applicant should be able to work in a small dynamic team and independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver engaging and safe gymnastics instructions for team level athletes
• Provide some cover for recreational programs (classes and camps)
• Develop lesson plans, conditioning programs and progressive skill drills
• Foster a positive, inclusive and motivating environment for all athletes
• Assist with junior coaches development and mentorship
• Support facility needs and equipment maintenance
• Assist with team events in the local community
• Build strong relationships with athletes and their families
• Provide ongoing support, encouragement and guidance to gymnasts
• Perform administrative duties as required
• Maintain all equipment to ensure safety for the athletes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A proven track record of success as a coach. 
2. Experience coaching USAG Levels 1-10, Excel and FIG knowledge
3. Ability to spot upper-level competitive skills
4. A minimum of 3 years’ prior experience coaching gymnastics
5. Current Safety Certification in gymnastics. 
6. Must pass all Criminal record checks and screening.
7. Basic first aid/CPR and child safekeeping certificate or willingness to obtain.
8. Must speak English.
