SPECIAL NOTE- This position is an overseas assignment tour of duty which may include Transportation Agreement, Living Quarters Allowance (LQA), Post Allowance, Environmental Morale Leave (EML), Home Leave and the following benefits:

ADDITIONAL NOTE -  Effective 1 January, 2018 all relocation expenses paid on behalf of employees or as a reimbursement are reportable taxable earnings and are now included in the IRS definition of compensation under Code section 415.




        Incumbent coordinates the implementation of individual and group lesson plans with staff and customers to ensure Gymnastics training needs are accomplished.  Works to encourage participant interest and enhance participant experience in the Gymnastics Program by maintaining gymnastics operations of an Olympic caliber level, promoting a safe atmosphere, and instilling effective training methods to both staff and customers.

Observes and evaluates the development of the Gymnastics Program, to include customer safety, customer satisfaction, special requirement requests, and staff performance.  Attends related conferences and trainings to remain current on Gymnastics practices, safety guidelines, training equipment, and merchandise. 

Plans, supervises, administers and carries out individualized or team sports programs, with an emphasis on the Gymnastics Program. Conducts clinics or seminars to train coaches, officials and/or participants; trains and develops athletes in individual or team sports, plans, organizes or conducts tournaments or competitions from the intramural to international level. Responsible for meeting established goals and effectively managing the resources of their assigned program.  Monitors program on a regular basis and initiates corrective actions, as necessary.  Evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing competitive sports activities from the standpoint of resources, unforeseen developments, and program objectives.  Develops periodic program plans and annual requirements.  Arranges for necessary supplies, transportation, space, and services to accomplish scheduled sports activities, with an emphasis on Gymnastics. 

Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies of the Gymnastics Program.  Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on their approved budget.  Monitors programs on a regular basis, and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs and the strategic objectives of MCCS.  Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility design, renovation and improvements.  Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives, and exercises internal personnel management authorities as delegated by the higher-level supervisor with regard to subordinate supervisors and employees in the office.  Directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors will supervise and direct the work assignments of lower-level employees.  Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, and appraises individual/departmental work performance.  Approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions.  Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action when required.  Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs.  Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.




1.            A minimum of four years of work experience administering a substantial sports/physical education program with high visibility.

2.            A minimum of three years of work experience as a Gymnastics Coach, Gymnastics Director, or position of similar nature within a Gymnastics Program is highly desired.

3.            Must be able to obtain Professional Membership from USA Gymnastics in order to hold USA Gymnastic sanctioned events/meets.

4.            Must be able to obtain the Director Certification through USA Gymnastics within one year of hire.

5.            The incumbent of the position is required to be a certified National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) instructor.

6.            Must have knowledge of a very wide range of the principles, concepts, and techniques related to Athletics, Sports, and Fitness gained through education and experience in planning, developing, and conducting related events and activities.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required.

This position is designated as a Position of Trust, and the incumbent must be eligible for a background check.  Appointment and continued employment is subject to a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) Background Security Investigation.
