The Bermuda Gymnastics Association (“BGA”) is inviting applications for the positions of National Program Director/Head Coach, and Senior Coach.
National Program Director/Head Coach
The successful applicant will report to the Board of Directors and will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Daily operations of the recreational program (both at the National Training Center and at satellite locations around the island) and boys’ and girls’ competitive gymnastics programs;
- Coaching and developing competitive gymnasts of all levels, in particular optional level female and/or male gymnasts competing USAG Level 6-10 Level 10/USAIGC Level Silver - Premier and in FIG events
- Lead coach development, facilities/equipment management, strategic planning, creation of competition schedules and organization of home meets/competitions
- Contribute to budgeting and fundraising initiatives
The following qualifications are required for National Program Director/Head Coach:
- 10 years experience coaching competitive to elite athletes or in lieu of this, 7 years of experience coaching competitive to elite athletes, together with post-secondary education in a sport related field or child and youth studies
- 5 years of supervisory and administrative experience
Senior Coach
The successful applicant will report to the Head Coach and will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Coach and develop gymnasts within all levels and programs, including develop lesson and conditioning plans, and safe drill progressions
- Assist with coach development, facilities/equipment management, strategic planning, budgeting, fundraising, organizing home meets/competitions, creating competition schedules and travel
The following qualifications are required for Senior Coach:
- 7 years experience coaching competitive to elite athletes or in lieu of this, 5 years of experience coaching competitive to elite athletes, together with post-secondary education in a sport related field or child and youth studies
- 3 years of supervisory and administrative experience
Both the National Program Director/Head Coach and the Senior Coach are also expected to proactively promote BGA programs, meets and camps; act as Meet Director/Meet Referee; and assist other projects and tasks as required. In addition, both must also meet the following additional minimum qualifications requirements:
- Excellent communication skills including a high degree of computer literacy
- Experience organizing gymnastics events and program
- Ability to train coaches at all levels
