Position Summary
Reporting
to the Director of Athletics, the Gymnastics Teams Director directs the
leadership, daily operations, staffing, training, coaching and
management of the Gymnastics Teams division. This also includes
directing competitive events, special events and workshops and summer
team programming, as well as collaborating with 92Y recreational
gymnastics and athletics.
Essential Functions
- Directs the leadership and visionary direction of all 92Y Gymnastics teams ( 7 current) and all team tracking programs
- Directs the recruitment, training, and overall management and evaluation of
Gymnastics teams staff; accountable for employee performance including
initiating, where necessary, appropriate disciplinary action up to and
including termination of employment - Directs all management responsibilities of the Gymnastics Teams, and
accountable for the delivery of the highest quality competitive
gymnastics programming. - Directs lesson plan development and supervises lesson plan implementation, consistency and accountability of all coaching staff
- Directs parent, athlete and coach meetings throughout each competitive season
- Directs the Lead Coaches’ processing of team competition registrations, USAG
memberships for staff and athletes, and uniform orders - Directs all teams to ensure consistency in experiences for all families
- Establishesa professional work environment ensuring that the rules of the facility are uniformly followed, as well as effectively and positively supporting and communicating May Center management team policies andpractices
- Directs the motivating and observing of employee performance; including initiating, where necessary, appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment
- Ensures that customer queries are responded to efficiently and that concerns and complaints are addressed and resolved effectively.
- Directs the management systems for all aspects of operations within the division including bi-weekly payroll records
- Manages relationships with equipment vendors and orders
- Directs facility internal and external inspections to ensure successful outcomes
- Assists Director of Athletics with other duties as requested
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent coaching and/or management experience. Other relevant certifications in the field of gymnastics, sport, dance or safety a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of management and successful program delivery experience, aswell as coaching and teaching in a school or athletic setting.
- USA Gymnastics coaching experience and certification highly desirable; head coaching experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and direct team environment.
- Excellent customer service skills accompanied with an aptitude for strong and diplomatic communications and the proven ability to work with people of
all ages. - Experience with maintaining a program budget and reaching budgetary goals
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to self-motivate and multi-task within concurrent deadlines
- CPR & First Aid Certifications required
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrable entrepreneurial skills along with the ability to identify and promote both the May Center and 92Y’s mission
